Men need Testosterone to be able to function well. As a man gets older, his Testosterone levels drop naturally, however, it is important to keep the Testosterone level at a certain point in order to feel and perform your best. If you are a man who has low Testosterone (Low T), you may not know it. Not everyone knows the symptoms of low T. Low Testosterone symptoms in adult men include lack of sexual function and/or desire, sterility, erectile dysfunction, hair loss and reduced muscle mass.
When it comes to symptoms of low T, the most disturbing for many men is the lack of sexual function and/or desire and erectile dysfunction. Men are just natural cravers of sex. So, for a man to not want to have sexual intercourse with his partner, there is definitely something wrong. Sometimes it is a side effect from a medication that he is taking for depression or anxiety, but many times it is just because he has low testosterone levels. The other sexual related side effect is erectile dysfunction. This means that the man can’t get and/or keep an erection going long enough to have sexual intercourse. It is not because he does not desire to have sex, he just can’t get an erection. So, for the man, ED is probably the most irritating symptom of low Testosterone, while the lack of sexual desire would be the most irritating for the partner.
Sterility would be the most heartbreaking of symptoms of low T if you and your partner wanted to have a child. When you are sterile, it means that your sperm is not viable in order to impregnate an egg. Sterility happens when low testosterone has been left untreated for a long time so if you have only had low T for a short while, there is still a chance to conceive a child. This is something you would have to talk to your doctor about so be sure to ask any and all questions when you get your diagnosis of low T.
Two other possible symptoms of low T are hair loss and reduced muscle mass. These do not always happen to men with low testosterone, but both are a possibility. If you notice that you are losing more hair than usual or that your muscle mass is not what it should be even though you are still working out, you should go see your doctor and get checked for low T. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health.
